Miller packs his Daredevil stories with Catholic themes and symbolism. "Born Again" is often held up as Daredevil's best story, but it also served as something of a second origin, establishing themes and conflicts that dominate the character's stories to this day. "Born Again" also introduces Matt's mother, Maggie. To make matters worse, Matt's old girlfriend, Karen Page, is revealed as the one who sells his identity in exchange for heroin.
